Yesterday, my third-year class was chatting about the holiday, the fact that it cancels their class, and the parade (which I will miss for a trip to Stockholm with a few other Fulbrighters). In the midst of this mild chaos Gosia (Who has a very quirky personality--though, this entire class is quirky. With five classes in one day, I would be too.) jumps up, looks at Ann (my cooperating teacher, who is from Michigan) and I very seriously, and says "Oh my God. Have you tried the cookies?!?! I love the cookies!"
At this point, I'm thinking "Cookies?!?! There'll be cookies and I'm gonna miss it? Frick. Stupid Sweden." [Please note: this was late in the day--I was hungry.]
Well, she wasn't talking about "cookies" per say, but Poznań's seasonal specialty Rogale Marciźskie. Throughout the city bakeries have signs regarding the rogales in the windows or on the front walks. During November, the bakery near my dorm makes almost nothing but rogales.
Other bakery things that Maggie really likes: rumy bomowy aka biadętki. These are made of all the leftover bakery cake. It's mashed up, mixed with rum, and molded into balls. The balls are then covered with more chocolate (During orientation, Fulbrighter Leanne and I referred to them as "chocolate booze balls.").
Sometimes, I also eat vegetables in Poland. But that is not nearly as interesting.

Yummy! I guess I'll just have to settle for oreos and peanut butter....hee hee!!
Ooo! Will has chocolate booze balls that he makes sometimes. I think his are called "whiskey balls" though, and they're very tiny and delicious.
