This week was my "introduction" to the Linguistics Department at Adam Mickiewicz University. To be honest, it wasn't too terribly exciting. Not that I'm complaining--I am more than happy to be slowly eased into the department. Basically, I spent the week being passed from class to class, in hopes that I could be worked into the classroom dynamic. Right now, it looks like I will be working with two sections of second year English writing and speaking. I've also been meeting with the prof for third year speaking and writing; I will most likely be in on at least two of her four courses. Since Marcin is teaching translation this year, I won't be spending much time in his classes. Mostly, he and I will hang out in the office, and I will ask him questions whenever I am confused (which is most of the time).
So, in conclusion, I am going to spend the coming school year being a Cooper Center Consultant in Poland. Dr. Cypert would be proud. Although, it should be noted that this gig lacks both a candy jar and a water cooler.
